Official Rules for Drawings

Last Revised: June 3, 2019

This document relates to the cash and prize drawings associated with the Legal Trivia Challenge sponsored by Orbis Juris. If you do not intend to participate in either of these drawings, you need not read this document.

These Official Rules for Drawings (“Official Rules”) govern both the drawing to win cool promotional gear (“Promotional Gear Drawing”) and the drawing to win a crash prize of $500 (“Cash Prize Drawing”). The Promotional Gear Drawing and the Cash Prize Drawing are sometimes referred to herein collectively as the “Drawings.” NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN EITHER OF THE DRAWINGS.

The prizes:

The prize for the winner of a Promotional Gear Drawing will be an item chosen by Orbis Juris, LLC (“Sponsor”) at its sole discretion. The prize for the winner of the Cash Prize Drawing is $500 (in the form of a check, EFT or other form or means chosen by Sponsor at its sole discretion). No prize substitution permitted for either of the prizes except at Sponsor’s discretion. The prizes are nontransferable. Any and all prize related expenses, including without limitation any and all federal, state, and/or local taxes shall be the sole responsibility of the winner.

How to enter:

There are two ways to be entered into a Promotional Gear Drawing:

1. Enter your first name, last name and email address where requested after your first completion of a current trivia challenge (i.e., a trivia challenge that was first published within the previous seven days) and a) have the highest score or b) share the highest score with one or more of the other participants. Note: if you take the trivia challenge more than once, your first score will be used to determine whether you qualify for the drawing.

2. Send an email to info@orbisjuris.com within seven days of the date on which was first published the trivia challenge referenced in your email. Your email must include the following information: Your full name, valid email address, and title of the trivia challenge whose associated drawing you wish to be entered into, e.g., Trivia Challenge # 6 or Trivia Challenge # 12. Note: only one email entry will be accepted per person. All entries become the exclusive property of Sponsor and may not be acknowledged.

There are two ways to be entered into the Cash Prize Drawing:

1. Do all of the following: complete a trivia challenge, and be among the first 100 people to sign up for, and become a member of, Orbis Juris.

2. Send an email to info@orbisjuris.com within 20 days of the date on which was first published the first trivia challenge published by Sponsor. Your email must include the following information: Your full name and valid email address in the body of the email, and “Cash Prize Drawing” in the subject line. Note: only one email entry will be accepted per person. All entries become the exclusive property of Sponsor and may not be acknowledged.

Additional terms and conditions:

Unless Sponsor elects to do otherwise, there will only be one (1) Cash Prize Drawing and one (1) award of the $500 cash prize. If Sponsor elects to hold any subsequent Cash Prize Drawing or to award any additional $500 cash prizes, both will be done in accordance with supplemental rules issued by the Sponsor.

By submitting an entry, you fully and unconditionally agree to and accept these Official Rules. Entries are limited to the United States and District of Columbia and are void where prohibited. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Subject to any governmental approval that may be required, Sponsor reserves the right to, without prior notice and at any time, terminate the Drawings, in whole or in part, or modify the Drawings in any way. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion, to cancel the Drawings in their entirety.

Eligibility:

Must be at least 18 years old to enter. Employees, officers, or directors of Sponsor, its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, and their children, parents, spouse, and members of their household are ineligible to participate. No purchase necessary. The Drawings are open only to legal residents of the United States. A purchase does not enhance your chance of winning.

Effective date of entries:

Entries made online or via email will be effective on the day received. All entries become the exclusive property of the Sponsor and may not be acknowledged and will not be returned. You are responsible for your costs of entering, including online access charges.

Selection of winners:

For both Drawings, winners will be determined by random drawing from all eligible entries received. The drawings will be held as soon as is commercially reasonable.

Notification of winners:

Winners will be notified by email (via the email address submitted by the winner as part of his or her entry) within one week after completion of the applicable drawing. All decisions are final and binding. Should the winner fail to respond to the email within 3 days of transmission by Sponsor, or should the email be returned to the Sponsor as invalid or un-transmittable, then Sponsor may in its sole discretion deem the winner disqualified and select a new winner. Any winner or new winner shall be subject to the rules set forth in this paragraph regarding a winner’s obligation to timely respond to Sponsor’s notification email.

Odds of winning:

The odds of winning any drawing will be determined by the number of eligible entries received. In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an online entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email account.

Other conditions:

Sponsor, its agents, employees, officers, directors, and representatives, its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies and legal advisors are not responsible for and will not be liable for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising in connection with or as a result of either of the Drawings, including the failure to receive any prize, or from participation in either of the Drawings. You waive any claims against Sponsor, its employees, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, representatives, and members in respect to the foregoing injuries, losses or damages. These Drawings are in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter or any other entity other than Sponsor.

Choice of law:

All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of you and Sponsor in connection with the Drawings, will be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the substantive laws of the State of Virginia.

Jurisdiction:

Any disputes relating to these Official Rules will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts of Virginia.

Attorney’s fees:

The prevailing party in any binding arbitration or litigation shall be entitled to recover its reasonable attorney’s fees and other costs incurred in the enforcement of these Official Rules or for the breach thereof, whether incurred before or after the entry of judgment.
